Amahoro Coalition and PSA BDP Launch Mentorship Program for Women Leaders with Lived Experience of Displacement

Nairobi, 20 June 2024 – To mark World Refugee Day, Amahoro Coalition and PSA BDP have announced a new mentorship program specifically designed for women leaders with lived experiences of displacement. This initiative primarily targets women who are part of the Amahoro Fellowship, a leadership program dedicated to displaced persons from Africa, helping them expand their networks and learn from influential women leaders from various industries and regions worldwide.

With Amahoro Coalition and PSA BDP taking action to drive change, foster inclusivity, and provide support and guidance for women in leadership programs, the partnership embodies shared core values and the importance of providing the right resources that offer further opportunities for the participants.

Isaac Kwaku Fokuo, Jr., CEO and Founder of the Amahoro Coalition, said:

“We are proud to partner with PSA BDP to add this unique program to the Amahoro Fellowship. Women face unique challenges in the workplace, which are further exacerbated in the corporate world. This is why we believe that this addition will enable women Fellows to learn from experienced business leaders about how they have navigated these challenges. It is also a fitting addition to the Amahoro Fellowship, as it not only showcases the potential, talent, and resilience of forcibly displaced Africans but also equips them with the essential skills and resources needed to create transformative change, expand their sphere of influence and open up new opportunities across the continent and globally.”

Nina Olatoke, VP HR EMEA & Global DEI at PSA BDP, said:

“Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) focus is on creating an inclusive environment that respects the dignity and diversity of all people. We best explain this as creating an environment of empathy, equity, and inclusion (Open Doors, Open Hearts, Open Minds). This approach guides how we engage with one another and inspires us to take purposeful action to support each other, our customers, and the communities we serve. We see this collaboration with Amahoro as a testament to this mindset and our purpose as an organization.”

The first cohort of this 12-month program will include women currently participating in the inaugural cohort of the Amahoro Fellowship and mentors from global companies such as PSA BDP, Alisan Logistics and Kimberly-Clark, among others.
