Job Overview
This position sits within the Amahoro Coalition’s Partnerships Team and is pivotal in driving Amahoro’s partnership-building efforts in Nigeria. The primary objectives are: 1. Co-creating economic opportunities with the private sector through human capital development and financial capital investments for forcibly displaced persons (FDPs). 2. Developing a pipeline of FDPs who can absorb and leverage private sector investments for sustainable livelihoods. This role requires a dynamic blend of relationship-building, strategic planning, and project execution, with three core focus areas outlined below.
Key Responsibilities
1. Driving Amahoro’s Strategy and Partnerships in Nigeria:
- Develop and execute engagement plans with international humanitarian and development agencies to enhance business engagement and secure sustainable solutions for FDPs.
- Manage and expand relationships with Nigerian businesses, ensuring milestone-based partnerships that lead to dignified employment and private sector investments in displacement-affected communities.
- Strengthen partnerships with organizations preparing FDPs for employment, including refugee-led organizations, vocational training institutions, universities, local NGOs, INGOs, and UN agencies.
- Support partnerships that drive systemic change, particularly in sectors like affordable housing, digital connectivity, and clean energy access.
2. Leading Execution of Key Partnerships in Nigeria:
- Implement joint initiatives outlined in engagement plans, such as with UNHCR.
- Support the execution of business and employment partnerships, ensuring tangible
outcomes for FDPs. - Contribute to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts, ensuring partnerships deliver
measurable impact. - Collaborate with Amahoro’s communications team to amplify success stories and best practices.
3. Support other Amahoro engagements in Nigeria as necessary:
- Organize and support events that advance Amahoro’s mission in Nigeria, including forums, roundtables, and private sector convenings.
- Provide strategic input into Amahoro’s broader engagements in Nigeria as needed.

Job Overview
The Strategy Developer - Growth is a key role within the organization’s Growth pillar, responsible for securing diverse sources of funding and building long-term donor relationships to ensure the sustainability of the organization’s mission and operations. With experience in grants management, fundraising, and donor relations, the incumbent will work the strategy, execution, and management of fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals. The primary objectives include securing diverse funding sources to support the Amahoro’s mission and activities, focusing on long-term sustainability and impact, and cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with individual, corporate, and institutional donors to strengthen financial support for key initiatives. This role requires a dynamic blend of relationship-building, strategic planning, and fundraising execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Grant Writing & Proposal Development:
- Co-lead the development of high-quality grant proposals and concept notes to secure funding from foundations, corporations, local businesses, and government
agencies. - Tailor proposals to meet the specific priorities of donors, aligning them with the organization’s mission.
- Research new grant opportunities, ensuring alignment with the organization’s needs and goals.
2. Donor Relations & Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with a diverse range of donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors, ensuring ongoing engagement and satisfaction.
- Provide regular updates to donors on the impact of their contributions, emphasizing long-term sustainability and overall benefits.
- Organize donor meetings, engagement events, and site visits to strengthen relationships and maximize funding opportunities.
3. Grant Management & Compliance:
- Support in the administration of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with donor regulations, timely reporting, and fund allocation in alignment with donor
specifications. - Monitor and evaluate the performance of funded projects to ensure impact measurement and provide regular updates to donors.
- Ensure that solid documentation is provided and maintained under each grant, meeting donor policies and organizational standards to ensure auditable compliance.
4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure grant proposals are in line with program goals and activities.
- Collaborate with the capacity building team to identify priority areas for training of partners, developing strategic interventions to assist grantees and partners in strengthening their capacities.
- Collaborate with the MGE team to develop relevant reporting processes that directly address MGE requirements, ensuring that grants are aligned with measurable impact outcomes.
- Represent the organization at conferences, donor meetings, and networking events to enhance its visibility and attract new funding partners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Non Profit Management, or a related field (A masters degree is an added advantage)
- At least 5 years of experience in grants management, fundraising, or donor relations in a nonprofit environment.
- Proven track record of grant proposal writing and securing funding from donors or investors.
- Relationship-building experience with diverse donor groups, including individuals, businesses, and foundations.
- Track record of managing multiple projects, ensuring compliance with deadlines and donor requirements.
- Experience in pre- and post-award grant management, with a strong focus on project management to ensure effective implementation and compliance.
- Proven ability to write persuasive proposals that align with donor expectations and organizational objectives.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal for reports, presentations, and proposal submissions.
- Strong ability to track and report on social impact, emphasizing outcomes and direct benefits.
- Able to manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- A positive attitude and high energy, demonstrating enthusiasm and resilience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
- A Self-Starter takes ownership of tasks with a hands-on approach.
- Strong interpersonal skills: with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and partners.
