Abuja, Nigeria – Amahoro Coalition and the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen private sector engagement in advancing economic opportunities for refugees, migrants, internally displaced persons and returnees across Nigeria.

NCFRMI will facilitate access to documentation and services for FDPs, advocate for enabling policies, and support efforts to connect displaced populations with economic opportunities and skills development pathways.
“Nigeria hosts millions of refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees and migrants whose resilience, skills and entrepreneurial potential remain an underutilized asset for national development. This partnership with the Amahoro Coalition represents an important step toward engaging the private sector as a key partner in creating opportunities, promoting self-reliance and advancing durable solutions for FDPs across Nigeria. Together, we can unlock pathways to dignity, productivity and shared prosperity.”
The partnership comes at a time when African governments and businesses are increasingly recognizing the economic contributions that displaced populations can make when provided with the right policies, opportunities, and support systems.
“Across Africa, we have seen that when refugees and other displaced populations are given the opportunity to work, start businesses and contribute to local economies, entire communities benefit. Through this partnership with NCFRMI, we will work to mobilize business leaders, attract investment, and create pathways that enable FDPs in Nigeria to thrive as workers, entrepreneurs and contributors to economic growth.”
Through the collaboration, the two organizations will jointly identify opportunities to increase private sector participation, support policy dialogue, strengthen data and engagement platforms, and connect FDPs with employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
