Sylvain Himbana, a social entrepreneur and co-founder of SINA LOKETA (SINAL) in Uganda, leads Flexi Konnect, a digital-first social enterprise unlocking inclusive economic opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs especially youth and refugees. Recognizing the barriers faced by refugee entrepreneurs in accessing startup capital, digital tools, and business networks, Sylvain founded Flexi Konnect to bridge this gap through innovation, investment, and community-led development.
Flexi Konnect empowers marginalized entrepreneurs by connecting them to investors, and capacity-building and Global Exposition opportunities through a web-based platform and special co-working spaces in refugee camps in Uganda. In partnership with SINA Loketa, the initiative recently launched its first co-working hub in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, enabling over 30 young entrepreneurs to access infrastructure, training, and investment-readiness support. Through through Flexi Konnect Web- based platform, investors can browse validated businesses, understand their goals and investment needs, and engage directly with flexi team for more information and partnership decision.
The platform directly addresses youth unemployment in Uganda, where 83% of youth remain jobless, and supports the economic inclusion of the 1.7 million refugees hosted by the country. Flexi Konnect’s ambition is to scale its inclusive business model across East Africa by launching more hubs, expanding digital services, and building a strong network of global investors. Sylvain’s work exemplifies how digital innovation and inclusive investment can drive systems change and unlock untapped entrepreneurial potential in displaced and underserved communities.
