This report explores the often-overlooked landscape of African high-net-worth individual (HNWI) philanthropy. While extensive research exists on international philanthropic flows to Africa, little attention has been given to the giving patterns of African HNWIs themselves. This study offers the first in-depth analysis of their motivations, contributions, and the barriers they face. By shedding light on these dynamics, the report provides valuable insights to inform strategies that enhance local giving, strengthen philanthropic infrastructure, and drive more sustainable, community-led development across the continent.
